Pick which likes to hide
Existing post
Open the post → tap the three dots (top right) → 'Hide like count'. Done — and reversible the same way.
New post (before sharing)
On the final share screen, tap Advanced settings → toggle 'Hide like and view counts on this post'.
Reels too
The same three-dots menu works on Reels — the toggle hides both likes and view counts.
You still see everything
Hidden counts are hidden from visitors. Your own view keeps the number and the full list of who liked.
The number disappears. The list doesn't.
Hiding likes is narrower than most people expect: visitors stop seeing the count, but anyone can still tap “others” and read the full list of accounts that liked. You keep seeing both on your own posts. And Instagram has been explicit that the toggle is cosmetic —ranking and reach are computed identically whether counts show or not, so there's no algorithmic price for switching it on.
When hiding counts earns its keep
The feature was built to blunt social comparison, and that's still its best use: if the number is what makes posting stressful, remove the number. Creators have a second use — hiding counts while testing a new content style, so a slow first hour doesn't frame how the post reads. What the like count never told you anyway is who your audience is — that's follower data, and the followers tracker and ghost-follower check read it directly.

Why would I hide my like counts?
The feature exists to reduce comparison pressure — Meta built it after research on social comparison. Practically, creators also use it when testing new content styles, so early low counts don't color how the post is received.
Can I hide likes on Reels too?
Yes — the same per-post toggle (three dots → Hide like count) works on Reels, and the global setting hides counts on Reels in your feed as well.
