You can choose who sees your Notes: either your followers who you follow back (mutual followers), or just people on your Close Friends list. Your Notes appear at the top of their DM inbox with your profile picture.

Yes! When someone taps on your Note, they can send you a message about it. It's a great way to start conversations. The reply goes to your DMs, not publicly. This is why conversation-starter Notes work well.
Instagram Notes automatically disappear after 24 hours. You can delete your Note early by going to your inbox, tapping your Note, and selecting 'Delete note'. You can also replace it with a new one at any time.
Yes! You can add music to your Notes. When creating a Note, tap the music icon to search for a song. A short clip will play when people view your Note. This is great for sharing what you're listening to.
Notes appear at the top of your DM inbox. If you don't see them: 1) Update your Instagram app, 2) Make sure you're looking at the main inbox, 3) The feature may still be rolling out to some regions. Notes from accounts you don't follow back won't appear.
