How do I unpin a comment?
Same gesture in reverse: swipe left (or long-press) on the pinned comment and tap the unpin icon. The comment stays in the thread — it just loses its spot at the top.
Does the commenter know I pinned their comment?

Can I pin comments on someone else's post?
No. Pinning is an author's tool — only the account that published the post can pin comments under it. On reels the same rule applies: your reel, your pins.
Why can't I pin a comment?
Check the basics: it must be your own post, the app should be updated, and replies to comments can't be pinned — only top-level comments. If the pin icon is missing on a top-level comment on your own post, an app update usually restores it.
