Important Note: Unlike some similar services, we never ask for or store your Instagram login credentials or password. For manual analysis you provide your own Instagram data export; for tracking and watchlists, we work only with publicly available profile data. Either way, your Instagram account login is never involved, so your account stays secure.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the GDPR, we only process your personal data where we have a valid legal basis to do so. Depending on the situation, we rely on:

• Performance of a contract — to create and operate your account and provide the follower-analysis features you request.
• Consent — for optional analytics and non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests — to keep our service secure, prevent abuse, and improve how it works, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with the law.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide, maintain, and improve our services, including:

• Facilitating account creation and authentication
• Providing follower comparison, tracking and watchlist features
• Communicating with you about our services
• Analyzing usage patterns to improve user experience

• Mixpanel and Datafast — privacy-friendly product analytics. We use these to understand, in aggregate and largely anonymized form, how the service is used so we can improve it. We do not use them to build advertising profiles.
• Firebase (Google) — authentication and database for our web app.
• Supabase — authentication and database for our iOS app.

International transfers: some of these providers are based outside the EU/EEA (for example in the United States). Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent adequacy mechanism.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following situations:

• With your consent
• With the service providers listed in Section 6, acting as our processors
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
• In connection with a business transfer or transaction

8. Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You stay in control: from the settings in both the web app and the iOS app you can delete your data or your entire profile at any time. When you do, we remove your personal data from our active systems, and it is purged from backups in the ordinary course.

If you don't delete your account, we retain your data so the service keeps working for you. Aggregated or anonymized analytics data that can no longer identify you may be retained to help us understand and improve the service.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage.

10. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. In the EU/EEA, some countries set this age limit as high as 16 for consent to online services. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Under the GDPR and depending on your location, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Self-service: you can access and delete your data or your whole profile directly from the settings in the web app and the iOS app — no request needed. You can also exercise any of these rights by emailing contact@unfollowcheck.com.

Right to complain: if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Denmark, this is the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.dk).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
