One username, one address — and one way to break it
Instagram profile links have a beautiful property: they're just your username. No IDs, no tokens, no shorteners — instagram.com/username resolves for anyone on earth, in-app or in a browser, logged in or not. The flip side of that simplicity: the link IS the username. Change your handle and every old link — in bios elsewhere, email footers, printed QR codes, that podcast show-notes page from last year — dies instantly, and the abandoned name becomes claimable by strangers. The QR code deserves more use than it gets. It's the same address in offline form: menu (≡) → QR code gives you a restylable, saveable image that points a phone camera straight at your profile. Cafés put it on menus, makers put it on packaging, freelancers put it on business cards — anywhere a typed URL would be friction, the code removes it. It survives redesigns and app updates; the only thing that kills a printed QR is, again, changing your username.
Sharing is the top of a funnel
A shared link produces a profile visit; the profile produces (or loses) the follow. Before pushing your link onto packaging and podcasts, make the landing worth it: a bio that says what you are, a grid that reads at thumbnail scale, and a deliberate first link. Privacy corner: what sharing reveals
Nothing, in every direction that matters.
